Latta’s Lady Vikings defeated Darlington but fell to West Florence in a tri-match on Thursday, August 28, in varsity volleyball action.
Latta defeated Darlington with scores of 25-5 and 25-16, but West Florence defeated the Lady Vikings 25-13 and 27-25. West Florence also defeated Darlington with scores of 25-12 and 25-11.
Latta was led by Dori Webster with 10 aces and three digs and Maggie Sloan with 24 assists. Brandy Williams made seven digs and Courtney Owens made five kills, and Genesis Anderson added one ace for the Lady Vikings.
West Florence was led by Destinee Walker with 19 kills, Julian Keitt with nine, and Leigh Ann Driggers with four. Tristen Herbert made 16 assists and three aces, and Sarah Ann Cox made six aces and seven digs for the Lady Knights.
Latta improved to 2-1 and West Florence remained undefeated at 3-0.
The Lady Vikings were scheduled to host West Florence on Wednesday night for varsity and junior varsity action. Latta will be on the road tonight to face Hemingway at 5:30 p.m. and will be at Wilson on Monday, September 8, at 7:00, before returning home to host Carvers Bay on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Make plans to attend to support our local team!
