The Dillon Christian School Warriors kicked off their regular season with a dominant showing on Friday night as they shut out the Christian Academy Saints of Myrtle Beach 40-0 at home in Dillon.

The Warriors actually reached the end zone more often than the score indicates, but Dillon Christian was penalized for 90 yards in the first quarter and had four touchdowns called back. The one that did stick came from TeShaun Lane on a 56-yard run with seven minutes left in the quarter, giving the Warriors a 6-0 lead.

Lane scored again in the second quarter on a 55-yard run, but the PAT failed again for a 12-0 lead. With two minutes on the clock in the first half, Anthony Williams scored on a 1-yard run and this time Jim Carr’s attempt was good for a 19-0 lead at the end of two.

Dillon Christian struck three more times in the second half, all coming in the third quarter. Lane caught a 25-yard pass from quarterback Bryan Davis with eight minutes left in the quarter, and scored again on an 18-yard run with 3:31 remaining in the third. With 42 seconds on the clock, Michael Minges scored on a 90-yard interception return, and Carr kicked all three extra points to put the game away at 40-0.

Lane rushed 14 times for 231 yards in the win as Dillon Christian got off to a 1-0 start in SCISA 1-A varsity football.

Luke Price led the Warrior defense with nine tackles.

Dillon Christian is scheduled to host Thomas Sumter Academy this Friday, September 5, at 7:30 p.m.
