A man has been killed in a shooting in Latta, according to reports. The shooting occurred early today (Wednesday) on Atkinson Street. The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Further details were not available.

One man has been arrested in a murder that occurred in Latta early Wednesday morning.
Kenneth Ray Hunter, Jr., age 35, of Atkinson Street in Latta is charged with murder and the possession of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a violent crime in the death of a Latta man, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
Coroner Donnie Grimsley identifies the victim as Kawme Campbell, age 24, of Latta.
According to Arnette, “On Tuesday night deputies with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Atkinson Street in Latta in reference to gunshots in the area. According to a incident report by Deputy Tim George officers arrived on Atkinson Street and located a male victim that had been shot. The victim was transported to McLeod Medical Center in Dillon by Dillon County EMS where he was later pronounced dead,” Arnette said.
“The shooting is being investigated by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, Dillon County Coroner’s Office and assisted by Latta and Dillon Police Departments,” he said.
