James Elliott Turner

Services for James Elliott Turner will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Turner, 73, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Born in Dillon County, SC, June 23, 1941, he was the son of the late James Arthur Turner and Janie Jackson Turner Halks.  He was a member of the South Carolina National Guard, and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  Elliott sold cars throughout his life for nearly 60 years to folks from all over the Pee Dee Region and extending into North Carolina.  His home office was always in Dillon, but he worked at Lumberton Ford in 1995-1996.  In the 60’s working for Hyman’s Used Cars in Dillon, and Young Ford in Charlotte, NC, in the 70’s and 80’s at Turner Motor Sales in Dillon, and throughout the 90’s and 2000’s for the final 18 years of his life at Turner Auto Mart, Inc. in Dillon.
Survivors include his sons, James Elliott “Jeffery” Turner, Jr. and Bradley Turner (Nichole Jackson), both of Dillon; grandchildren, Tori Turner, Brandi Turner, Taylor Turner, Jana Turner, and Ethan Turner; sister, Louise Turner Causey of Dillon; sister-in-law, Betty Height Hasty of Shallotte, NC.  
Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his wife, Vicky Height Turner; his brother, Gerald Arthur Turner; and his nephew, James Gerald “Jamie” Turner.
