Eva Thompson Scott

Eva Thompson Scott was born November 11, 1911, in Marion County, SC to the late Major and Emma Reaves Thompson. She was the last surviving sibling. She was married to the late Alford Foy Scott. They were blessed with nine children. Daughters, Sarah Mitchell, Emma Eaddy, Annie Laura Bethea, and one newborn preceded her in death.
She attended Marion County public schools. She joined and attended Ebenezer Baptist Church, Marietta, NC and sang in the choir until she relocated to Dillon County, SC.
She worked on the farm alongside her husband, raising hogs and chickens until her retirement. She was a vivid gardener, growing flowers and vegetables. She also loved to sew and bake cakes. In her later years, you could find her reading, sewing, knitting, and studying her Bible. Her favorite Bible scripture was 91st Psalm.
She spent the last two years of her life in Greenville, SC with her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Lindsay Wheeler.
Survivors include sons: James Scott of Winston Salem, NC, David Scott of Dillon, SC, John Henry Scott (Donna) of the home; daughters: Shirley Wheeler (Lindsay of Greenville, SC, Linda Scott of Winston Salem, NC and a host of grands, great grands and great, great grands.
Funeral service for Mrs. Eva Scott will be Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 12 Noon at Samuel Bartell Memorial Chapel at 1309 East Calhoun Street, Dillon, SC. Viewing will be Friday, August 15, 2014 from 12 Noon until 7:00 PM. The family is receiving friends at 1644 Sugar Hill Road, Dillon, SC.
