Good Things

There have been some good things going on in our community that are worthy of note and some extra recognition. Here are a few of them:
• Many people have mentioned to The Herald that they were impressed by Rev. Larry Williams and Tabernacle of God Ministries’ food drive that accompanied a week-long revival in Dillon. Food was given to all who requested it (no judgments were made), and approximately 40,000 lbs. of food and 32,157 lbs. of ice cream were given out to people in Dillon and the surrounding area. More than 1,000 people were served in total.
• Dillon County should expect to have some good softball and baseball teams on the horizon in future years as many of our local teams won state titles and participated or will participate in World Series games. The children, coaches, and parents are to be commended on their hard work and dedication.
* The Dillon Antique Appraisal Fair was an outstanding event held Saturday at the City of Dillon Wellness Center. Many people turned out to see if they had the next big find, and the event held appeal for many different people. It was a worthwhile event.
* Youth from Camp Harvest of Salkehatchie were in the area recently making improvements to seven homes in the area. Youth from Dillon County traveled to other areas of the state to do the same.
* Several have commented on the sea of blue ribbons throughout the county. The ribbons are placed in honor of Dillon City Police Officer Jacob Richardson, who was injured in a car accident in the line of duty. It’s nice to see such a huge display of support for one of our police officers.
Many more things could likely be mentioned, but these are just a few that we have received comments about in recent weeks. Send us a letter to the editor about some of the good things that you know that are occurring in the community.
