Dillon Falls 10-6 to North Carolina in 2014 Dixie Darlings World Series

Dillon’s 8U Darlings fell to North Carolina on Monday night and were eliminated from the 2014 Dixie Darlings World Series in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

The Dillon Darlings fell 10-6 to Dunn, North Carolina to finish fifth place in the World Series tournament. Tallassee, Alabama defeated Louisiana 3-2 on Monday night to remain undefeated, and Tennessee eliminated Mississippi 14-11.

On Tuesday, Louisiana defeated Tennessee 7-1 while Alabama defeated North Carolina 6-5 on Tuesday. Alabama and Louisiana were set to face each other on Wednesday night in the World Series championship game. The Louisiana would have to win twice to claim the title.

Also in Bay St. Louis, the inaugural Dixie SweeTees World Series rolled on with Aynor, South Carolina, falling 23-12 to Mississippi on Monday night while Louisiana defeated Tennessee 22-11.

On Tuesday, Tennessee eliminated Mississippi 16-12 while Louisiana eliminated Alabama 21-10 to remain undefeated in the tournament. Louisiana and Tennessee both advanced to the World Series championship on Wednesday night.

In the Dixie Debs World Series, Lancaster, South Carolina fell 6-3 to Louisiana but battled their way back, eliminating Arkansas/ Oklahama 2-1, Virginia 7-1, and Mississippi 12-0. But South Carolina fell 3-2 to Louisiana in the semi-final round. Louisiana and North Carolina were set to play for the World Series championship on Wednesday.

In the Angels X-Play World Series, Aynor, South Carolina fell 4-0 to Alabama in the first round, but eliminated Georgia 12-4 and Virginia 10-2 before falling 8-4 to Tennessee. North Carolina and Alabama were set to play for the championship title.

This weekend, the Latta Ponytails will head to North Myrtle Beach for the opening ceremonies of the 2014 Dixie Ponytails Traditional World Series. Latta will face Louisiana in the opening round of the tournament on Monday, August 4.

North Myrtle Beach will also be hosting the Dixie Angels Traditional World Series with Turbeville representing South Carolina in the tournament.
