Dick F. Elliott

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH–Former State Senator and well respected community and business leader, Dick F. Elliott, age 78, passed away on June 7, 2014, after a lengthy illness at McLeod Regional Hospital in Florence, South Carolina.
Dick F. Elliott led a remarkable life and died peacefully with his family surrounding him.  He was the son of John Marvin and Ara Mae Hough Elliott of Cassett, South Carolina.
He attended Wingate College and Clemson University.  He subsequently moved to the North Myrtle Beach area and started several business ventures, including Elliott Realty, Beachwood Golf Club and Eagle Nest Golf Course.  
With his successful business undertakings, he was able to begin giving back to his community through state and public service and a political career that spanned three decades and culminated with his retirement from the South Carolina Senate in 2012, after receiving the Order of the Palmetto, our state’s highest civilian honor.
Senator Elliott was predeceased by his brother John Elliott and his sisters Margaret Hall, Willie Gregory, and Martha Walters.  
Senator Elliott is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anne Anderson Elliott.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Rick and his wife Leslie Elliott of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, his son David and his wife Maryanne Elliott of Marietta, Georgia, and his daughter Angela and her husband Russell Frazier of Greenville, South Carolina.  Senator Elliott is also survived by four grandchildren, Madison, Caroline, Blair and soon to be Katherine, as well as other family members, including a brother-in-law and nephews and nieces.
The services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with graveside services to follow at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
