McFee wins 4-H State Championship

Tangie McFee, a member of the Dillon County 4-H Shooting Sports Club, won first place in the Ladies Junior Varsity Advanced Division State 4-H Sporting Clay tournament held at Rocky Knoll in Abbeville, SC on May 24, 2014. Tangie shot 72 targets out 100 for first place while Jessica Knox from Belton and Madison Price from Saluda both broke 71 targets.

In addition to her first place individual performance, her squad which had her brother Rich McFee and Jordan Hayes, came in second place in the Junior Varsity advanced division team competition. Their coach for this event was Richard McFee.

Lane Stanley of Mid Carolina and Justin White of Dillon County 4-H tied for third Place HOA in the JV 1st year competition with White going on to win in the tie breaker.

The Dillon County Club also had the squad of Jacob Edwards, Justin Herring, and Justin White place third in the Junior Varsity 1st Year Division. Justin White tied for third Place High-Over-All in this Division with Lane Stanley of Mid Carolina Gun Club. Justin went on to win that through a tie breaker shoot-off by a score of 6 to 4.

The Dillon County 4-H Shooting Sports Club will wind up the 2014 season with the 4-H State Skeet and Trap Championships at Mid Carolina Gun Club on June 14. The team has already won the SCYSF State Skeet Championship in the Senior Division.

The club is supported by the SC Department of Natural Resources, Clemson Extension Service, Dillon County Rifle and Gun Club, Friends of the NRA, Schofields Hardware, The Rogers Company in Lake View, SC, and the Dillon Lions Club.
