16-Year-Old Charged With Attempted  Murder In Shooting Of Teenager

A 16-year-old has been charged with attempted murder in the shooting of another 16-year-old, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting occurred at a gathering/party at the American Legion building on Highway 9 East early Friday morning.
Arnette said law enforcement is not sure exactly what transpired that led to the shooting.
Both the Sheriff’s Office and the City of Dillon responded. Responding officers from the Sheriff’s Office were Troy Jones, Michael Barfield, Zane Bryant, Curtis Sampson, Jimmy Jackson, Allan Rogers, Reggie Thompson, Larry Abraham, and Arnette.
Responding from the City of Dillon were Ray McPhatter, Ronald Graham, and Melvin Lee.

Puppies Burned

Seven puppies were burned last Monday on Carter Road in Sellers, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
The puppies all died. Arnette said that law enforcement believes that it was  an intentional act.

Traffic Stop

A traffic stop on Christmas Day in Latta resulted in the arrest of a man from Brooklyn, New York on several charges.
Anthony L. Rivera, 27,  was charged with a weapon law violation/felon in possession of a firearm, no driver’s license, and giving false information to a police officers.
According to the report, Rivera was stopped for speeding. While Officer Myron Dixon was writing the ticket, another officer, Cpl. Andy Britt, noticed that the driver was nervous.
The driver’s license for the name given came back as valid.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun.
Britt asked central dispatch for a description of the person listed on the driver’s license and Rivera did not fit the description.
Britt asked Rivera for his address and he gave a different one than he had given to Dixon.
Rivera finally gave his correct name and birth date, according to the report.
The man was taken into custody.
Britt ran a criminal history and found that the man was a felon in the state of New York.
