Lady Gators Open Season with 50-30 Win

Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators opened the regular season of girls basketball with a 50-30 win over the East Clarendon Wolverines on Wednesday, December 4, in Lake View.

The Lady Gators went 13-0 in the first quarter and outscored East Clarendon 15-8 in the second to lead 28-8 at the half. Lake View outscored the Wolverines again 14-10 in the third to widen the lead to 42-18. East Clarendon held Lake View to just eight points in the fourth, but their 12 points weren’t enough to close the gap, giving the Gators their first win of the season.

Olivia McDaniel led Lake View with a game-high 25 points, including three 3-point goals and 10 of 12 free throw attempts. McDaniel grabbed six rebounds and made one assist, one steal, and one block in the win.

Jasmine Ford scored 11 points for the Lady Gators, including four 2-point goals and three of six free throws, and made three steals with one rebound and one assist.

Tranya Ford sank four two-point goals and hit one free throw for nine points, and made three assists, two steals, and one rebound. Zaria Washington picked up three rebounds, stole twice, and sank one two-pointer, and Taylor Bethea grabbed three rebounds with one steal and one two-pointer. Diayah Williams sank a free throw for the Wild Gators and grabbed three rebounds.

Desiree Strickland grabbed two defensive rebounds for Lake View; Pamela Butler made two steals; and Kayla Page made one rebound with one steal.

Tyquasha Kennedy led East Clarendon with a team-high 12 points, and L. Shaw added seven; Ivory Barnes, 3; Nicole Green, 2; Q. Rhodes, 2; and Q. Rose, 2.

Lake View starts the regular season with a 1-0 record, while East Clarendon is now 0-2.

The Lady Gators were scheduled to be at Loris on Wednesday and will host Dillon on Friday, December 13, at 6:00 p.m. Lake View will also host Loris on Monday, December 16, before traveling to Aynor on Tuesday. Make plans to attend home games to support our local team!
