Harold Cleo Bullard

Harold Cleo Bullard, 89, died Saturday, November 23, 2013, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery with full military honors.  Visitation will be 3:30 -4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Marion County, April 5, 1924, he was the son of the late Preston Tillman Bullard and Mattie Christine Rogers.  He was the widower of Mary Carter Bullard.   He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during World War II in European-African Middle Eastern Campaign.  He earned 5 Bronze Stars and with 1 Bronze Service Arrowhead; Good Conduct Medal, 5072, HQ 10th ENGR BN28, Purple Heart, GO21, HQ 32nd STA Hosp July 26, 1944, Distinguished Unit Badge with 1 Oakleaf Cluster, GO 254, ASR Score 83 September 2, 1945, Arrowhead Amphibious Assault Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal & Eurpopean-Africian-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. He worked with Wright Construction building roads around Washington, DC and the Northeast.  He worked at the S.C. Highway Dept and retired from there in 1989.  During his retirement he worked at Tobacco Warehouse in Mullins.  He loved playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passing out Granddaddy dollars and gardening. 
Survivors include his daughters, Ellen Bullard of Dillon, Janice Bullard of Florence, Bobbie (Hellen) Bullard, and Harold “Buddy” Bullard, Jr. both of Marion; brothers, Jackie Bullard and Dan Bullard both of Marion; sisters, Doris (James) Band of Spartanburg, and Christine Bullard of Marion; 8 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bullard was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis “Peggie” Bullard, Cindy Bullard, and McKeeva Bullard; sister, Joyce “Happy” Bullard; and 1 grandchild.
