Austin Edens, grandson of Lt. Col. (Ret.) and Mrs. Melvin Edens of Dillon, SC, has committed to play baseball at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
Edens has been a standout player for St. Michael the Archangel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, earning All-Metro, All-District 6-4A, and Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association All-State honors.
As a junior, Edens hit .457 with 15 doubles, eight home runs, and 38 RBIs in 32 games. On the mound, he went 4-2 with two saves and a 1.28 earned run average.
Edens has a 3.98 grade point average in school and will receive athletic and academic scholarships.
