Gerald Edwin Hayes, Sr., 63, died Friday, October 11, 2013, in McLeod Medical Center-Dillon.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Catfish Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Born in Hartsville, SC, December 17, 1949, he was the son of the late Carol E. Hayes and Annie Kelly Hayes. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and received the Purple Heart. He worked with Rock Tenn for 34 years.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Ellen Martin Hayes of Latta; brothers and sister, Robert Hayes of Latta, Susan Norton of Latta, and Ben Hayes of Latta; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Hayes; brothers, Charles, Lever, Larry, and Stevie Hayes.
