The Jay Stone Singers gospel group shared many songs with the congregation at Sardis Baptist Church on Sunday, September 29.
The ministry of the Jay Stone Singers began in Hope Mills, NC, in 1976. The group’s founder was Jay Stone who enlisted his wife Mary, who is a Barnhill from Latta, SC, their 14-year old son, their 11-year old daughter Sharona, and a few close friends. In June, 1984 Bobby Carter joined the group to sing tenor and play the bass guitar. Bobby and Sharona were married in 1987. In January 2010, Jay and Mary Stone decided to retire from all of the traveling. Today they are still a vital part of this ministry. They offer prayers and manage the group’s business.
On stage were Bobby and Sharona Carter and their children, Stone Carter, 18; and Emma Carter, 16. Over the last 37 years, this group has traveled in 25 states in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Sardis Baptist Church is located at 239 Sardis Road, Latta. Rev. Larry Allen is the pastor.
