Dillon – Betty Jean Mahaffey Wallace, 85, died at the McLeod Regional Medical Center Dillon, Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 4, 2013 at Main Street United Methodist Church with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Church prior to the service.
Mrs. Wallace was born in Lancaster, SC on September 18, 1928, the daughter of the late Sidney Belk and Maisie Gertrude Mahaffey. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed working with the theatre and arts in Dillon County. She was a member and very active in the Dillon County Historical Society. She retired from the Dillon County School System as a Teacher and a Speech Pathologist.
She is survived by her husband, Osbourne L. Wallace of the home; son, Owen Lane Wallace (Natalie) of Dillon, SC, Joy Wallace Waller (Gene) of West Union, SC; grandchildren, Michael G. Waller (Brittany), Sydney W. Howle (Matthew), McCall W. Kurland (Ross), and Lane W. McDaniel (Jason); and brother, Joseph Alvin Mahaffey of Henderson, NC. She was predeceased by four brothers.
