Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Bike Day Held (with photo slide show)

On Sunday, August 25, Mount Calvary Baptist Church celebrated the 6th Annual Bikers’ Sunday.
Before Sunday School, bikers were invited to a breakfast of sausage wraps and beverages.  After enjoying breakfast, Joe Price taught during the Sunday School hour.
At the 11:00 a.m. service the oldest biker, 87 year old Ruth Proctor, sang a solo to open the service.  Next, the congregation sang a medley of songs.  This was followed by the Bikers’ Choir led by Sheriff Major Hulon.  He used a guitar which was presented to him by the late Dr. Johnny Cook, who also wrote the song they sang.  The words of Cook’s song were changed slightly to honor the bikers instead of cowboys.  Preacher J.D. Tew of the Freedom Biker Church of Fayetteville, N.C. preached a message about choices.  At the conclusion an invitation was given before everyone joined in a delicious meal served in the Mount Calvary Family Life Center.
Mount Calvary Baptist Church is located at 405 Mount Calvary Road, Dillon.
