Bill Elvington

Mr. James W.  (Bill) Elvington passed away July 28, 2013 at Heritage Health Care at The Pines in Dillon, SC after an illness.
 
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Lake View United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at Lake View Cemetery directed by Cooke Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Lake View United Methodist Church.
 
Mr. Elvington was born in Marion County, the son of the late Robert Fulton and Annie Laurie Randolph Elvington.  He was a veteran of the US Navy where he served as a Seabee.  With the exception of his military service, he lived his entire life in Lake View. He was a member of Lake View United Methodist Church.  He was an avid crop farmer and also raised poultry for Perdue Farms, INC.  He loved animals and believed that none should be mistreated.
 
Surviving Mr. Elvington are his son, James W. (Jamie) Elvington, Jr. (Lisa); daughters, Kathy Tuk (Tony) and Deanna Russell; sister-in-law, Mary Lois Elvington; grandsons, Mathew Tuk, John T. Russell, Jr., J. Graham Russell, R. Wyatt Russell; special caregivers, Mary Spivey, George Turner and Judy Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Mr. Elvington was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lois Elvington; brothers, Charles Randolph Elvington and Robert Fulton Elvington; and sisters, Doris Barili and Hilda Stansel.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake View United Methodist Church and the Humane Society, at Humane SPCA, 121 Humane Lane, Columbia SC 29209.
