The 11-12 Latta All Stars fell 8-3 to Mullins on Monday night but defeated them 5-2 on Tuesday to secure a spot in the tournament’s championship game.

Trey Anderson went 1-1 and hit a home run, but Latta All Stars still fell to Mullins 8-3 in six innings on Monday at Latta.

Trey got on base two times in the game for Latta. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the second inning.

Jake Lane got the win for Mullins. He allowed three runs over four innings. He struck out eight, walked four and surrendered one hit.

Mullins was sparked by Dalton Buffkin and Cameron Bethea, who teamed up for two hits and two RBIs.
The lead stayed with Mullins after the second, when it scored two runs on a passed ball and an RBI single by Cameron Martin.

Mullins posted two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth. In the fourth, Mullins scored on a fielder’s choice, plating Jake.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the fourth, Latta faced just a 4-3 deficit. An error and a passed ball gave Latta life. Jake ended the inning by getting Hunter Sawyer to strike out.

Latta All Stars beat Mullins 5-2 Tuesday behind both the bat and the arm of McLeod Carmichael. McLeod racked up two RBIs on two hits for Latta. He singled in the first and third innings.

McLeod had an impressive outing against Mullins’ lineup. McLeod held Mullins hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five.

Latta scored four runs in the first inning to build an early lead. Two runs in the top of the fifth helped Mullins close its deficit to 5-2. A two-run home run by Cameron Bethea sparked Mullins’ rally. Latta stopped the rally after Hunter Sawyer got Cameron Martin to strike out.

The Latta All Stars were scheduled to play McLeod Park for the tournament championship on Wednesday night. Since there was a three-way tie, there will be two runner-ups. Mullins received their runner-up trophy on Tuesday.
