Latta’s #25 Autry hits a grounder to third with the bases loaded to score a runner in the top of the fourth against Delmae.

The District 10 Sub District-B AAA Dixie Youth Baseball Tournament, being played at the City of Dillon Sports Complex, began on Friday, June 28 with seven teams vying for the right to face the Sub-District -B champions in a best of three District Tournament to be held on Friday, July 5, at the Kiwanis Ball Park.

Two Florence teams have advanced to the semi-final bracket along with the Marion and host Dillon Kiwanis All Stars. Delmae, 3-0, will square off against rival McLeod Park (1-1) in Monday evening’s 8 o’clock game and Dillon Kiwanis (2-1) will take on Marion (2-1) in the earlier 6 o’clock game.

The All Stars from Delmae are unbeaten with wins over Latta, 12-1; Dillon Kiwanis, 15-5 and Marion, 10-1. McLeod Park lost its first game to Marion 4-0 and received a bye to a Sunday meeting with Latta, a 14-7 winner over Lake View. McLeod Park shut out the Latta All Stars, 8-0, to earn the match-up with Delmae.

Lake View’s runner is tagged out at third.

Dillon Kiwanis advanced to the semi-finals by beating Lake View 11-1 in the opener for the two teams before losing to Delmae on Saturday and defeated Mullins 6-1 on Sunday.

Rain on every day of the tournament so far has been a pain in the back, literally, for Kevin Scott and his grounds crew. Many bags of a drying compound and raking it into the water and mud surely made the job challenging and with much work, the games have gone on without a hitch. A tip of the “appreciation hat” and quite a few “atta boys” to the crew for a job well done.

Bo-Bo McKinnon pitched the Kiwanis All Stars to an 11-1 open round victory over Lake View, while Noah Carter and Gage Hunt provided the fire power at the plate. Carter tripled twice and doubled in three plate appearances, driving in three runs, and Hunt doubled twice in three trips to the plate. Cooper Lane doubled in a run and Charlie Nash Collins drove in two runs with a single in a third-inning 4-run rally. Trent Johnson and Quentin Hunt also had hits for the Kiwanis All Stars.
