Survivor Dinner Held

On Thursday, May 30th, Mount Calvary Baptist Church hosted the annual Relay For Life Survivor Dinner.
The purpose for the Survivor Dinner is to honor those who have battled cancer in the past, or are currently battling cancer.  It is a time to SERVE them, in honor of their battle. That’s just what was done. Church members, including members of the youth, served a meal of ham, potatoes, green beans, mac & cheese and rolls. A wide variety of dessert was offered as well. It was all served to them at their tables. Door prizes were also given to all in attendance. The survivors were also given their Survivor shirts to wear at Relay For Life the next night.
Approximately 150 Survivors, Caregivers and Guests were in attendance.
Special guests for the evening were Faye Jackson, Judy Gardner and Bill Howell.  Faye spoke about her journey as she is currently battling cancer.  Judy is her sister and has been by her side through it all.   Judy spoke from the perspective of a caregiver, walking through this with her sister. The sisters have sang together for many years, and now sing with Bill Howell.  The three sang for the crowd.  Special thanks go out to all who helped in anyway.  To the cooks, the servers and to all who contributed door prizes, we thank you.  Also, to those outside the church family who came and helped. It could not have been done without the help of all.
