The Dillon High School Junior Varsity softball team scored its third consecutive shutout in the last two weeks at home, blanking the Lady Loris JV Lions 10-0 in four and a half innings. Johnna Rogers threw a one-hitter, struck out four, walked two, and hit a batter with a pitch going all the way on the mound. Her two-run double in the bottom of a three-run second inning supplied the Lady Cats with all the runs they would need to pick up the win.

Shar’Asia Samuel laid down a perfect bunt to start the third for a base hit, stole second, and scored on right-handed batter Macy Johnson’s double to the opposite field. Johnson went to third on a passed ball and scored the second run of the inning on a wild pitch. Before the side could be retired, Desire’ McLain walked, stole second, and scored on a single by Adoshia Graves, who also crossed the plate on the second wild pitch of the inning by starting and losing pitcher Hannah Josephs.

Jason Guion hit a three-two pitch to right field with two out in the top of the Loris fourth inning for the only hit off Rogers, but was stranded at first when Josephs popped up to Sierra Dixon at first base to retire the side.

Leading 7-0 after three innings, the Lady Cats scored three runs on three hits, a mental error, and a base on balls. Bri Froneberger led off the bottom of the fourth with a walk, stole second, went to third on a passed ball, and finally scored when Brittney Miller hit an infield single. Miller’s ground ball was not misplayed and even though the throw was off to the right at first base, the first baseman fielded the throw cleanly but made no effort to put Miller out.

Josephs retired the next two batters on strikes, but following a wild pitch that sent Miller to second, Macy Johnson drove her home with a solid hit just off the fingertips of the Loris second baseman. The second hit of the evening by Adoshia Graves scored Johnson to give Dillon a 10-0 lead. Rogers retired Loris in the top of the fifth, striking out the final two batters for the win.
