Lady Wildcats Shut Out Marion 15-0

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats shut out the Marion Swamp Foxes 15-0 on Tuesday night in Marion in varsity softball action.

Dillon scored five runs in the first inning and three each in the second and third to lead 11-0. The Lady Wildcats added four more runs in the top of the fourth to end the game in four innings.

Taylor Price picked up the win for Dillon, pitching all four innings for two hits, four walks, and five outs. Sarah King took the loss for Marion.

Rebecca Callahan led the Lady Wildcats at bat, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Darby Hamer went 3-for-3 with a double for Dillon; Shayna Covington went 2-for-3 with a triple; and Tara Grimsley went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Dillon had 13 hits and one error in the win. Marion had two hits and four errors.

The Lady Wildcats improved to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in Region 8-2A. Dillon was again ranked second place in the state in this week’s South Carolina Softball Coaches poll. Andrew Jackson remained in first place, with Crescent, Buford, and Aynor round out the top five.

Dillon will be at Mullins on Friday, March 29, for their next region game. The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to be at Cheraw for a tournament on April 1 and 2 and will return to regular season action on Tuesday, April 9, when they are scheduled to host Loris.
