Mr. Joe Homer Williamson, 91, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Carolinas Hospital System of Marion after an illness.
Mr. Williamson was born September 26, 1921 in Horry County, a son of the late Joseph Hayes Williamson and the late Effie Richardson Williamson. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Williamson was a US Navy veteran, having served in World War II aboard the USS Houston and the USS Providence. He was a member of North Mullins Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Williamson are: a son: Billy Joe (Barbara) Williamson of Floydale; 2 granddaughters: Brandy (Matt) Evans and Karen (Will) Waldrop; a grandson: Joe (Paula) Williamson; 2 great-granddaughters: Regan Williams, Samantha Waldrop; a great-grandson: Ben Evans; a special nephew: Jerry (Connie) Bullard; a special niece: Sheila (Robert) Faircloth; and a brother: Shepherd Williamson of Latta.
Mr. Williamson was predeceased by his wife, Inez Hewitt Williamson; a daughter, Anna Loyce (Patty) Williamson; a granddaughter, Lindsey Beth Williamson; 2 sisters, Gertrude Williamson Rowell and Martha Williamson; and 6 brothers, Duncan Williamson, Robert Williamson, Howard P. Williamson, Monroe Williamson, Junior Oliver Williamson and George Lenoie Williamson.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, March 15, at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols.
Visitation was held Thursday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
