Lady Wild Gators Swamp Marion Foxes 11-0

Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators overwhelmed the visiting Marion Swamp Foxes 11-0 on Monday night in softball action.

The Lady Gators scored five runs each in the bottom of the first and second and added one run in the fourth to end the game in five and a half innings.

Morgan Herlong was the winning pitcher, allowing just one hit with five outs. Sarah Kings took the loss for Marion, pitching four innings for 10 hits, 11 runs, eight earned runs, two walks, and four outs.

Ashley Rogers led Lake View at bat, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Kayla Sanderson and Chelsea Spivey each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Lady Gators, who had 10 hits and two errors in the win.

Lake View improved to 8-2 overall and remained 0-1 in Region 8-A after Friday’s loss to Hannah-Pamplico.

Lake View remained in second place in this week’s Class A softball coaches poll, with Lewisville claiming the number one spot in the state. East Clarendon was ranked third.

The Lady Gators were scheduled to travel to Carvers Bay on Wednesday night and will be back home to host Johnsonville on Friday, March 22 at 5:30 p.m. Make plans to attend to support our local team!
