Dillon County 4-H Competes in State Skeet Competition

The Dillon County 4-H Club Shotgun shooters placed in several different divisions at the State 4-H Skeet shoot held at Mid Carolina Gun Club on February 9, 2012. The Club had sixteen different members competing in 3 man squads in 4 different divisions. For their efforts, each squad that placed was recognized with either gold, silver, or bronze medals representing 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. In addition the squads also received a plaque recognizing the team.

In the Sr. 1st year Division, the squad of Cole Anders, Samuel Coleman and Joshua Price won first place. In that same division, the squad of Duncan Callahan, Dylan Ivey and Daniel Kahlil won second place. In addition to the team success Cole Anders was the High Over All (HOA) breaking 96 targets out of 100. Samuel Coleman was the next highest shooter in this division.

In the Jr. Advanced division, the squad of Cole Gasque, Daniel Camp, and Eli Long won third Place.

In the Jr. 1st year division, the squad of Boone Campbell and Davis Lockamy won third place, In addition to the squad placing, Boone Campbell was 3rd place HOA for this division.
Darby Hamer, the only female shooter on the team was the Sr. Lady HOA for the whole competition.

The team will be participating next week, February 16, at the South Carolina Shooting Foundation (SCYSF) sporting clay event at the Clinton House in Clinton, SC

The team has been fortunate to be the recipient of grants from the Friends of The NRA which has been used to fund the ammunition and targets used for practice. The Friends of the NRA host local events to raise money which they then award to organizations which promote youth education or competition. The Florence County Friends of NRA will be held February 22 at the National Guard Armory in Florence.
