James Stephens of the S.C. Aeronautics Commission discussed the plan for the Dillon County Airport at the Dillon County Council’s January meeting.
Stephens said the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) wants the council to approve their plan for the layout of the airport before they award funds. He said the plan was based on the plan from 2008. He presented council a draft set. He said that the S.C. Aeronautics Commission was there to support the county at a state level and be a liaison between the county and the FAA.
Mihir Shah, also of the S.C. Aeronautics Commission, said the plan would begin with the clearing of the trees and the reconstruction of the runway.
Councilman Harold Moody made a motion to adopt the aeronautics plan seconded by Councilman Joe Johnson. All approved.
