The Dillon Christian School Warriors had a size advantage in the boy’s game but the Carolina Bobcats had speed and used this speed advantage to come away with a 52-47 win on Friday, January 18.

Maybe it was the way the ball bounced off of the backboard or the Bobcats speed but the Warriors loss was the result of the Bobcats out-rebounding the Warriors by a margin of over two to one.

The game was close with the Warriors trailing 10-13 at the end of the first period and 22-24 at the end of the second period. The third period ended with a 35-35 tie. With just over three minutes left in the game, the Warriors took their only lead of the game at 40-37. The Bobcats used their speed and conditioning to comeback and secure the 52-47 victory.

Will Brown led the Warrior offense with 14 points and four assists followed by Mark Minges with 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Matt Jordan had seven points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots; Tyler Davis had five points with two rebounds; John Michael Price had four points with three rebounds; Matthew Price had four points, three rebounds, six assists, and two steals; and Jim Carr had three points.

On offense for the Bobcats, Connor Floyd had 19 points, Ken Parker had 10 points, Keith McKenzie had nine points, Hunter BeLue had six points, and Dylan Moore and Garret Weaver had four points each.

On Tuesday, the Warriors were scheduled to travel to face Williamsburg Academy with junior varsity action beginning at 4:00 p.m. and varsity following after.
