Latta School Board Meets

The Latta School Board of Trustees met for the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. in the District Administrative Conference Room. 
Notices of the meeting were duly exercised and published per school board policy.
A letter of congratulations from the Honorable Leon Panetta, Secretary of Defense, was presented to the Latta High School Army JROTC Leadership Team for their participation in the 2011-2012 JROTC Leadership Symposium and Academic Bowl, which took place in Washington, DC, June 2012.
Facilitator Vicki Kirby and the first year teacher induction class addressed the Board. Each teacher shared with the Board their educational background and their enjoyment of teaching in the Latta School District. 
Induction class participants are as follows: Amanda Scott, Elizabeth Curtis, Rene Bryant, Samantha Pollett, Jennilyn Pittman, Heather Carter, Jason Bracey, and Patricia Donohue. 
Donna Taylor presented a status report on the September General Fund budget. 
Auditor Bob Harper from Harper, Poston & Moree, P.A. of Pawleys Island presented the audit report from the fiscal year ended June 30, 2012. 
He highlighted portions of the Executive Summary.
Robert McIntyre presented as information the 45-day student report and the student demographics report. 
Martha Heyward updated the Board on the International Baccalaureate program.
Larry Legette reported on the status of the construction projects in the district.
The Board of Trustees Officers signed a Revocation of Right of First Refusal on the Academy Street property. This will enable the Latta Schools Educational Foundation to purchase the property. 
Dr. Kirby updated the board on possible additions to the Latta Early Childhood construction project.
There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Edward Bethea and seconded by Kyle Berry.
