ASE Certification Now Available To ATEC Juniors And Seniors

ASE Student Certification can be thought of as the first step in building a career as a service professional in the automotive industry. The Dillon County Technology Center Automotive Program has the opportunity beginning this year to allow students to begin in their junior or senior year to take the ASE Student Certification Test, which is known as Automotive Service Excellence.
They will be able to test in one or all eight areas of automotive technology. The areas are: Engine Repair, Engine Performance, Electrical/Electronics, Steering/Suspension, Manual Transmission, Automatic Transmission, Brakes and Air Condition.
The ASE test will allow students to be certified for 2 years upon passing any area of testing.
These tests can provide the student with their first industry-recognized certification through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. This is the first time students can graduate and leave the automotive department with an ASE Test Certificate.
With only the work experience from the two year automotive program is required for student certification. (In past years, the requirements were 2 years work experience upon passing tests). Upon successful completion of the exam, the school prints the certificate, has it signed by the director and automotive instructor for validation, and then awards it to the students.
Student certification is valid for two years from the date the test was taken.
Because the automotive department at the Dillon County Technology Center has national certification and AYES, the Center is able to give theirjuniors and seniors the opportunity to become ASE Student Certified.
