Young Gamecock fan, Lane Cardwell, age 8, from Lake View was run over by a small SUV after the South Carolina vs. Georgia game in the parking lot of the old farmer’s market. Lane and his Aunt Lissa (Melissa Thompson) are season ticket holders.
No charges were filed in the accident.
Lane was taken to Palmetto Richland’s Children’s Hospital & underwent surgery to place 2 rods in his left femur.
While in the hospital, Lane was visited by Disney XD star from Pair of Kings, Kelsey Chow who plays “Mikayla” & also William Moseley (“Peter” from The Chronicles of Narnia & upcoming film Run)
After being released from the hospital, Lane received a special visit from Patrick McFarland, Gamecock Club Director & his assistant Blair Lane was given a limited edition signed Steve Spurrier football & along with Gamecock Club flag signed by Ray Tanner, junior gamecock club member t-shirt, pencils, pens, & stickers.
Lane was also honored at his flag football game on October 13 as co-captain. He was also presented a signed football from his team, which is undefeated & an autographed Steve Spurrier photo made out to “Lane Cardwell”.
Lane & Aunt Lissa cannot wait to get back to see the Gamecocks play on October 27 against Tenn.
