Sunday, Sept. 9, was Rev. Horace L. Jackson Appreciation Day at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

The morning worship hour beginning at 11:00 a.m. was the setting for Pastor Kenneth E. Jones and the entire congregation to honor Rev. Horace L. Jackson as Pastor Emeritus.

The prelude, the welcome, the announcements, and Mission Emphasis on State Missions and Prayer was followed by a choir special “Shoutin’ Time.” This song, along with most of the other songs performed today, is one of Rev. Jackson’s favorite.

Hagood Watson had the Invocation followed by “The Longer I Serve Him”.

Special solo songs were by Gene Minshew who sang “Beulah Land” and Rev. Jackson’s niece Judy Ward who sang “He Hideth My Soul”.

The church was filled with love and respect for Rev. Horace L. Jackson as he was presented a plaque from the church by Hagood Watson, former head deacon while Rev. Jackson was serving. Watson was assisted by David Jones, present head deacon, and Pastor Jones.

Dinner was served in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Everyone had a great time of fellowship and enjoyed a delicious meal.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church is located at 1625 South Hwy. 57, Dillon, S.C.
