Lashay Page
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard spent the last two seasons at Southern Mississippi, where he will graduate over the summer after completing a few remaining courses. He was released from his scholarship at Southern Miss in June, and was given a list of 10 schools he could transfer to. Among them, Clemson and Virginia Tech were reportedly interested, but Page chose USC to be closer to home.
The SEC has a rule banning one-year transfer graduate students, but Page hopes to get a hardship waiver due to the death of his mother earlier this year. Page also has a five-year-old daughter in Marion.
In his time at Southern Miss, Page averaged 11.6 points and 3.4 rebounds and helped the Golden Eagles reach the NCAA tournament before losing to Kansas State.
Page attended Chipola Junior College during his freshman year of college, where he was rated a three-stare prospect by Rivals.com and Second Team All-Panhandle Conference. He averaged 14.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.6 steals and connected on 49 percent of his three-pointers. Before leaving for Southern Miss, he was offered scholarships from Gonzaga, Coastal Carolina, Marshall, East Carolina, and Oklahoma.
Page played for Latta in his early high school career, but transferred to Dillon in his senior year to play for the Wildcats. He averaged 31 points, eight rebounds, and three assists for Dillon and was named All-State by the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association all four years. He was named a four-time team Most Valuable Player and was also named All-State by the SC High School Sports Report, and participated in the Carolina’s All Star Classic. He was also an All-Conference selection in football.
Page said he was excited to have the opportunity to play in South Carolina again where his family can see him play.
