City Of Dillon Has New Police Officer

By Betsy Finklea
The City of Dillon Police Department has a new officer.
Lorie Tyler has been with the department since October 13, 2011, but was not able to attend the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy until January 29th of 2012. On April 20, 2012, Tyler graduated from the academy and recently completed her field training.
Tyler was not new to law enforcement, however. She worked at the Dillon County Detention Center for two years prior to becoming a police officer. She liked law enforcement and liked helping people so she became an officer.
Tyler would like to thank Chief Joe Rogers for the opportunity, and she would also like to thank First Sergeant Ryan Berry, who she said was an excellent training officer.
Tyler is married to Dillon County Sheriff’s Deputy Randy Tyler, and they reside in Dillon.
