Dillon County Councilman Macio Williamson died on Monday, June 11, 2012 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. Williamson, who campaigned as “The Voice For The Voiceless,” was elected to the Dillon County Council on November 4, 1982, according to the Dillon County Council Office. He served as chairman of the Dillon County Council on several occasions. County Administrator Clay Young said that Williamson was the longest serving member currently on council. “He did a lot of good things, and we will miss him and his leadership,” Young said. Bartell Funeral Home, LLC of Dillon is in charge of these arrangements. The family is receiving friends at 1609 McNeil Street, Dillon.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 11:00 am at South of the Border -Convention Center.
