Mr. James L. Hayes, 91, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Southeastern Regional Hospital after an illness.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Olivet United Methodist Church, Marietta, NC. Burial followed at Olivet Cemetery, Marietta, NC. directed by Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the funeral home.
Mr. Hayes was born in Robeson County, NC on April 28, 1921, the son of the late James Luther and Emma Foy Franks Hayes. He was a lifetime member of Olivet United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife, Robbeye C. Hayes of the home; sons, James Craig Hayes (Mary) of Chapel Hill, NC and Richard Hayes (Connie) of Fairmont, NC; sister, Patricia Epting of Little Mountain, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer, Robyn, Rebecca, Daniel, Nancy Laura and Jamie; great grandchildren, Kayla, Alana, Jordan, Jayden, Jaclyn and Madison.
Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Hayes Hinson and granddaughter, Kimberly Cox Curry.
