Wildcats Fall 5-2 to Hawks

Dillon fell 5-2 to Hanahan on Wednesday night to end the Wildcats’ hopes of a lower state baseball title.

Hanahan jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings and allowed the Wildcats just one more run to claim the 5-2 win and a shot at the lower state title.

Dillon end the season with an 18-4 overall record.

Hanahan continued on to face Bishop England on Friday and managed to defeat the Battling Bishops twice in order to claim the Class AA Lower State title.

In the upper state, Palmetto defeated Gilbert 4-2 on Monday to advance to the upper state finals, but Palmetto defeated Strom Thurmond 3-2 on Wednesday to stay alive. But Gilbert swept Palmetto 7-0 on Friday to claim the Upper State title.

Hanahan was scheduled to host Gilbert in the first round of the state title series on Monday, and Gilbert will host on Wednesday night.
