Edna McClam Wins Award

On March 31, Mrs. Mae Edna McClam was awarded a Citizenship Award at the A.C. Robinson Community Center, Marion, for her outstanding work in the community.
At 5 a.m. most senior citizens are asleep. Not Mae Edna McClam though. She is accustomed to rising early in the morning to feed her chickens, ducks, and her other animals.
As an early riser, Edna keeps it moving throughout the day.
The majority of her day is spent in service to others.
She has a love for people-especially the elderly.
She has spent countless volunteer hours and the nursing home visiting the sick, engaging in conversations, and she also donates to the most needy.
Mae Edna also loves art. In 2009, she devoted her energies to launching a building for Latta Senior Empowerment Services.
This organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the senior citizens in Latta.
Under her leadership and guidance, the Senior Center has become a favorite hub for female senior residents in Latta.
These ladies’ lives have been enriched by engaging in exercise classes, Bible study, art and crafts projects, field trips, and building and strengthening friendships.
