On Sunday, March 25 at East Dillon Baptist Church, the Court of Honor was held to award Tyler Preston June of Latta the rank of Eagle Scout.
The Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable within the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America.
Tyler’s scouting career spans from Tiger Cubs to Eagle and covers 12 years. He is a member of Troop 761 of Dillon. He earned his rank October 3, 2011 with the completion and presentation of his Eagle Scout project. For his project, Tyler petitioned businesses and individuals within Dillon County for donations. Once received, these requested funds were used to purchase playground equipment for the community center in Latta. This playground area is now easily accessible and much safer for the children of the Latta community.
Tyler is the son of Royce and Amanda June of Latta. His maternal grandparents are Mitchell and Maxine Tyler of Conway, S.C., and his paternal grandparents are Bobby and Edith June of Sumter, S.C.
Tyler would like to thank the Latta community for its support along with many businesses of Latta and Dillon who contributed to his project. He would also like to extend gratitude to his scoutmasters Carlton Carr, Dr. Tim Fitzgibbon, Douglas Lynn, Thomas Jordan and Bucky Rourke.
