Brenda Arnette Named Counselor Of The Year

Brenda Arnette, Dillon County Technology Center School Counselor, was named the 2012 Outstanding Counselor of the Year by the South Carolina Counseling Association at the association’s annual conference in Myrtle Beach on February 24.
The award was presented to Arnette for her outstanding service and contributions to the field of counseling, active participation in professional organizations and concern with personal and professional growth in the counseling field.
Ms. Arnette has 23 years of counseling experience. Prior to joining the staff in September 2000 at Dillon County Technology Center she was a counselor at Mullins High School. During this time she has served on Tri-County Mental Health Board, First Steps Board, WIA Youth Board, McLeod-Dillon Hospital Board, Dillon County Technology Center Advisory Board, Member/President Criterion Club and served 22 years in the SC Army National Guard with participation in Desert Storm.
Ms. Arnette was nominated by Margie Fore and when she presented the award she stated: “I felt she was deserving of this award because of her sincere concern and passion for helping students in-school and in the surrounding communities.”
Ms. Arnette is a graduate of Spelman College and Francis Marion University. She is the mother of three children, Daryl, April and Rosalyn, and three grandchildren.
