Dale Elvington, 77, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at McLeod Medical Center of Dillon after an illness.
He was born on January 21, 1935, the son of the late Fred Elvington and Elizabeth Grantham Elvington. He was retired from the US Navy and US Air Force branches of the Armed Services.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Lake View. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery, directed by Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View. The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Cooke Funeral Home.
Surviving Mr. Elvington are his son, Alan Elvington of Clemson, SC; daughters, Anita (Ricky) Jones of Evergreen, NC and Terri (George) Turner of Lake View, Jenni (Scott) Harrelson of Conway, SC; brothers, Wayne Elvington of Charlotte, NC and James Elvington of Greenville, SC; Grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, Jordan (Jessi), Zack, Livi Dale, Olivia; and one great grandchild, Keegan.
Mr. Elvington was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Elvington and Sarah Alice Mitchell, brothers Billy Gerald Elvington and Harry Elvington.
