Billy Ray Jackson

HICKORY-Mr. Billy Ray Jackson, 58, passed away March 3, 2012 at his residence.
He was born May 4, 1953 in Dillon, SC, the son of George Ellis Jackson and Chancy Elaine Hatchell Jackson. He was a member of Penelope Baptist Church, Proprietor of Drive Thru Package in Longview, a graduate of Latta High School where he was a star football player and was a graduate of Francis Marion University. Billy went by many nicknames some of which were “Billy Jack”, “Wild Bill” and “Ray”. A person who loved the public, he also loved golf, cooking, NASCAR and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His leadership to advise many, along with his generosity and thoughtfulness will be remembered by all for years to come. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Roger Jackson. Survivors include his wife Linda Jackson; a son Billy Jackson and wife, Tondra of N. Wilkesboro; two daughters, Brooke Miller and husband, Danny of Newton and Nichole Dailey and husband, Conor of Conover; two brothers, Theron Jackson
of Latta, SC and James Jackson of Dillon, SC; seven sisters, Frances Hayes of Latta, SC, Pat Beckwith of Florence, SC, Joan Norton of Latta, SC, Vonda Miller of Latta, SC, Elaine Hester of Florence, SC, Linda Clark of Latta, SC and Ann Jackson of Latta, SC; seven grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service was held 2 PM Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Penelope Baptist Church by Pastor David Grinnell.
A committal service was held 11 AM Wednesday, March 7th in Catawba Memorial Park by Pastor Nicholas Wilson.
The family received friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Penelope Baptist Church.
