Griffeys Recognized At AAA Four Diamond Awards Ceremony

Michael and Patty Griffey were recently recognized at the AAA Four Diamond awards ceremony at the Planter’s Inn in Charleston, SC for a combined 25 years of Four Diamond service. One of only a handful of properties in South Carolina to have both the Inn and Restaurant awarded both distinctions, Abingdon Manor was the only property to be recognized with both plaques being awarded simultaneously.
Standards for Four Diamond establishments are very high and only 3% of all properties anonymously rated by AAA Nationwide receive the designation. The Griffeys were recognized as “being part of an elite group of superior hospitality oriented restaurants and accommodations”.
For hotels, these establishments must be upscale in all areas. Accommodations are progressively more refined and stylish. The physical attributes reflect an obvious enhanced level of quality throughout. The fundamental hallmarks at this level include an extensive array of amenities combined with a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail.
For restaurants it is geared to individuals in search of a distinctive fine-dining experience. Often orchestrated by an executive chef and an accomplished staff, menus reflect a high degree of creativity and complexity, using imaginative presentations to enhance high quality, market-fresh ingredients. The equally proficient service staff demonstrates a strong desire to meet or exceed guest expectations. A wine steward is typically available to provide menu-specific knowledge on wine selection. The ambiance is highly refined, comfortable and well-coordinated, incorporating quality materials and a variety of upscale design enhancements to give a first-class impression.
Abingdon Manor, Classic Country Inn and Restaurant is located in the quaint, turn of the century village of Latta, SC.
