Monarchs Eliminate Lady Wildcats, Fall to Bishop England in 2A Playoffs

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats were eliminated by Manning’s Lady Monarchs on Tuesday, February 14, in a game were free throws were the biggest factor.

The Wildcats were eliminated 57-48 as Manning’s Breanna Nelson went 7 of 8 on free throw attempts and Karen White hit two free throws with :40 remaining in the game. The Lady Monarchs were led by Alexia Abraham with 13 points and White with 12, followed by Nelson with nine.

The game saw a total of 50 fouls committed and 74 free throw attempts with Manning hitting 25 of 43 and Dillon only managing 11 of 31 attempts.

Manning continued on to face #1 Bishop England on Friday, but fell to the Bishops 72-45 in the second round.

Elsewhere in the Class AA Lower State bracket, Marion defeated North Charleston 81-26 to move on to face Bishop England tonight in the third round of playoff action. Top seeded Lake City defeated Hanahan 69-41, and #1 Mullins defeated Silver Bluff 57-33. The Lady Auctioneers will host Lake City tonight.

In the Upper State bracket, Palmetto eliminated Andrew Jackson 51-42 and Keenan defeated Broome 48-47 to move on to a third round matchup tonight at Palmetto. Columbia defeated Saluda 47-30 and Cheraw took out Pendleton 55-37 to advance to a third round match in Cheraw.
