Lake View’s Wild Gators picked up wins over Aynor and Green Sea-Floyds last week in boys basketball action.

The Gators defeated Aynor 51-47 at home on Thursday, January 19, after overcoming a strong first quarter from the Blue Jackets. Aynor outscored Lake View 20-7 in the first, and both teams added eight points in the second to give the Blue Jackets a 28-15 lead at the half. But the Wild Gators rallied for a strong third quarter of their own, outscoring Aynor 23-6 to take control of the game with a 38-34 lead heading into the fourth. The Blue Jackets would outscore Lake View 13-10 in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap as the Gators finished on top.

Lake View was led by Jamal Ford with a game-high 15 points and Michael Paige with 12. Shaquille Foxworth scored eight of his 11 points in the third quarter, with Darius Leonard earning six, Chris Ford adding five, and Tyrice Brunson scoring two.

Aynor’s Windham and Young each earned 15 points, with Buix earning eight, followed by Davis with four, Hurrington with three, and Smith with two.

The Trojans jumped out in front in the first as they outscored Lake View 17-12, but the two teams seemed evenly matched in the second when Lake View outscored Green Sea 14-13. The Trojans widened their lead in the fourth as they outscored the Gators 16-9 to head into the fourth with a 46-35 lead. But the Trojan attack faltered in the final quarter as Lake View more than doubled Green Sea’s scoring at 28-13 to claim the win.
