Dillon’s DJ Park verbally committed to play for the University of South Carolina over the weekend.

The 6-foot-6, 316 pound junior offensive lineman is the first USC commitment for the 2013 class. Park chose USC after attending several games and visiting USC with fellow Wildcats Joe Blue and Kwinton Smith. Smith has already verbally committed to the Gamecocks and is expected to sign with USC on February 1, National Signing Day.

Park is considered a top prospect and has fielded offers from Clemson, Auburn, N.C. State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Florida, East Carolina, Tennessee, LSU, and Virginia Tech.

Park recently participated in the National Under Armour Combine at the ESPN Sports Complex in Orland, Florida, where he received the Best Blocker Award from Rivals.com. He was also named an HSSR All State Offensive Lineman. Last spring, he was invited to participate at the MVP Football Camp in Atlanta, Georgia, where he impressed scouts with his performance.

Park is the son of Pastor Joseph and Sherry Park and the grandson of James and the late Thomasena Hines.
