The Latta Vikings fell 52-50 to Cheraw on Wednesday, December 21 in the Sonic Blast Shootout.
Latta rallied in the fourth, but the Braves defense was able to hold off the Vikings to hang on to the 52-50 win.
Latta was led by D.J. Legette with a game-high 13 points. Rajit McFadden added 11 and Donnell Stanley earned 10 points in the loss. Tyrell Sabb contributed five points; Kenche Page scored four; Ty’sean Burgess earned three; and R.J. McClam and Darius Jones each scored two.
Cheraw was led by Kavon Butler with a team-high nine points. Justin Chapman and D.J. Quick each earned eight, and Marvin Lauderdale and Demetrius Holiday each scored seven. Prentice Burden and Malcolm Hunter each added four points, with Deion Sanders scoring three and Raheem Harrington earning two.
The Vikings are now 1-5 overall and 1-0 in Region 8A. Latta returns to regular season action next week when they host the Dillon Wildcats on Tuesday, January 3, at 6:00 p.m.
