Mrs. Bertha Snipes Bailey, 91, died on Thursday, December 23rd, 2011. She was born October 9, 1920 in Dillon County, the daughter of Walter W. Snipes and Maudie Lee Snipes.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Light House Sunday School Class where she was substitute teacher for several years.
She was a homemaker and loving, caring mother and grandmother.
She was married to the late Furnie Bailey for 35 years and mother of a daughter Margie (Billy) Pittman, Dillon, a son JW (Jean) Bailey, Dillon. Grandchildren, Wayne Bailey, Keith (Dawn) Bailey, and Shannon (Ryan) Berry. Great-grandchildren, Lauren Bailey, Weston Bailey, and Nicholas Berry.
Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd Snipes, Cole Snipes, and Grady Snipes; and her sisters, Ollie Tyler and Nell Cottingham.
Visitation was held 6 to 8 Friday, December 23rd, at Cooper Funeral Home . Funeral services were held Saturday, December 24th, at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial at Riverside Cemetery.
