Lady Gators Fall 62-25 in Lady Whirlwind Classic

Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators earned a 62-25 pre-season loss in the opening round of the Lady Whirlwind Classic in Timmonsville on Monday, November 21.

Lake View was led by Tranya Ford with 10 points, Pamela Butler with eight, Jasmine Ford with five, and Britney Washington with two.

Timmonsville was led by Sade Eli who scored a game high 23 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists and steals. Justice Gee added 16; Arneshia Brown added 13; Sade Zimmerman added five; Mikayla Wright added three, and Allya Woods added two.

Timmonsville would go on to win 55-25 over North Central in the championship game of the tournament.

Last season, the Lady Wild Gators finished with a 6-11 record. They lost two key players, Chessie Miller and Jaquanna Davis, but returned Tranya Ford, Pamela Butler, and Britney Washington.

Head Coach Martha Jones says the team has strong leadership this season and has seen improvements from all her returning players. The 2011-2012 roster also includes a new point guard and new post player.

“We are again a young team,” she said, but added that she looks forward to seeing what the season holds.

Lake View is scheduled to begin its regular season on Monday, December 5, at Aynor at 6:00 p.m. On Friday, December 9, they’ll travel to Dillon to take on the Wildcats before opening region play on Tuesday, December 13 at Johnsonville at 6:00 p.m. The Wild Gators will travel to Green Sea Floyds on Thursday, December 15, for their last game before the holidays.
