Dillon Christian School’s Lady Warriors fell to Myrtle Beach Christian Academy’s Lady Saints 32-31 on Friday in a non-league basketball match.
The Lady Warriors outscored the Saints 8-6 and 9-5 in the first two periods to lead 17-11 at the half. The Warriors continued to lead in the third as they added nine points to Christian Academy’s six to carry a 26-17 lead into the fourth. But the Saints rallied in the final quarter to outscore Dillon Christian 15-5, giving them a one point lead at the final buzzer for the 32-31 finish.
Amanda Bass led the Lady Warriors with 12 points, including one three-pointer and four two-pointers. Lauren Lee and Emily Prutzman each added six points with Lee netting three two-pointers and Prutzman sinking two. Prutzman also went two for three on free throws. Kylee Sullivan made three of four free throw attempts and sank a two-pointer to add five points for the Warriors. Jamie Carpenter also sank a two-pointer.
Prutzman led the team in rebounds with 11, while Lee made seven and Bass and Sullivan each made four. Courtney Miller made three defensive rebounds and Carpenter, Makalai Sweat, and Hailee Keen each made one rebound.
Bass made four steals in the game, with Lee and Sullivan each stealing twice. Sullivan also made two assists, while Bass and Lee each made one.
Dillon Christian School’s Lady Warriors fall to 0-2 in the pre-season while Christian Academy starts the season with a 1-0.
The Lady Warriors were next scheduled to face Lamar in the Pee Dee Turkey Shootout at West Florence High beginning on Monday, November 21. Results from the three-day tournament were not available at press time due to the early holiday deadlines.
Dillon Christian School returns to action after the holidays with their first region matchup against The Byrnes School Lady Trojans on Tuesday, November 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Byrnes.
Meanwhile, the Dillon Christian boys took on Christian Academy’s Saints and fell 69-48 for their second loss of the season.
Christian Academy outscored the Warriors 14-2 in the opening period, but Dillon Christian outscored the Saints 22-18 in the second to cut the Saints’ lead to 32-24 at the half. But Christian Academy would return to the court to dominate the rest of the game, outscoring the Warriors 24-16 in the third and 13-8 in the second for the 69-48 win.
Christian Academy was led by Kendall henry with 26 points including a three-pointer and 10 two-pointers. Garrett Richard earned 12 points for the Saints from six two-pointers. Matt Doria and Austin Guyton also sank three-pointers for Christian Academy.
Stats for Dillon Christian School were not available. The Warriors fall to 0-2 for the season while Christian Academy improves to 2-1.
The Warriors will also be competing in the Pee Dee Turkey Shootout and will travel to face The Byrnes School on Tuesday, November 29.
